A spot right at the end of the garden, and against a railway line is ideal for Jerusalem artichokes. They can be a bit of a pest if you don't want them because they will never go away. I love them so I am happy to keep them under control.

H - a seedy-fanatic! Looked like a wonderful event! Even though I don't have a garden I can't 'do gardening stuff' there.... it makes me very happy to see the enthusiasm folk have for keeping these varieties alive, before all our fruit and veg becomes like our hight streets..... full of limited, tasteless, vacuous 'brands'.....

A fascinating way to acquire seeds. It will be interesting to see what the "unidentified and varied" runner beans produce!

Ciao,
Tromba di Albenga = Albenga's Trumpet.

By the way, young and green you treat them as courgettes, but if you get much older you treat them as squashes.

You have a lovely blog.

Thanks. I grew tomatoes at the allotment two seasons ago, which got blight - ever since I have stuck to growing them in pots at home. Perhaps it's simply been luck, but no blight so far with this method!
