Green Currants

Today’s visit to the plot consisted of weeding, watering and photographing. Little green currants like these, on one of the redcurrant bushes, are beginning to appear:

I took lots of similar photos but will save some for another post.
And I made my first ever blog comment here.

Today I made an evening visit and I made some personal sticks for the lanky broad beans to lean against, and they look rather more impressive (than they ought, perhaps) as a result of this sleight of hand. I then planted another double row of beans alongside. These ones, I hope, will be of sturdier [...]

It’s apparently traditional to plant potatoes on Good Friday and we made it to the plot at sunset (the camera flash makes it look somewhat later) to get our King Edwards in. Still no spade, but we managed with a fork instead.

Raspberries

In my long list of weekend tasks completed at the plot, I missed out this one.
After moving the raspberry suckers, I sorted out the older canes (a summer-fruiting variety). The base had been tangled up with nettles and enmeshed with dead leaves as well as a selection of other debris; it now looks neat, but [...]
